How a Vessel Job Works
- 01Dockside assessment. We come to your berth, review the fault or the refit scope with your crew, and confirm what can be done alongside versus what needs a layup.
- 02Diagnostics & fault finding. Systematic tracing of the fault — not parts-swapping. You get a clear picture of the cause before any repair starts.
- 03Repair, refit or upgrade. Marine-grade materials, corrosion-resistant terminations, and workmanship built for vibration and salt air.
- 04Testing & documentation. Every system is verified under load, and you receive the documentation you need for surveys and inspections.
Standards, Safety & Compliance
Marine electrical work is held to a higher standard, and it should be. Our installations and repairs are performed to Canadian Electrical Code requirements, and we provide compliance support for Transport Canada inspections — including the documentation and remediation work vessels need to pass survey. Safety is not negotiable on our jobs: lockout/tagout on every system we touch, and no shortcuts in engine rooms or on deck.

Common Questions
How fast can you get to a vessel in port?
Call us as soon as you know there's a problem — for emergencies we respond 24/7, and for vessels on the Avalon or in Trinity Bay we can typically be dockside the same day. When you call, tell us the vessel type, the berth, and what the fault is doing; that lets us arrive with the right test equipment and likely parts instead of making a second trip. If your sailing window is tight, say so — we plan the work around your departure, not the other way around.
Do you do full refits or only repairs?
Both. A lot of our marine work is fast dockside repair and fault finding, but we also take on complete electrical refits during layups: rewiring, panel replacement, lighting, navigation and communications power, and bringing older vessels up to current standards. For refits we survey the vessel first and give you a written scope, so you know what's being replaced, what's being kept, and what it will cost before the first cable is pulled.
Can you work while the vessel stays operational?
Often, yes. Many jobs — diagnostics, single-system repairs, preventative inspections — can be done alongside without taking the vessel out of service, and we isolate only the circuits we're working on. Larger jobs get phased so critical systems stay live. We'll tell you honestly when something genuinely requires a shutdown or a layup, and help you schedule it for the least painful time.
